Mid Island Survival Skills (M.I.S.S.) offers youth the opportunity to deepen their outdoor experiences by teaching essential bushcraft and wilderness survival skills. Participants will learn how to build shelters, safely start fires, plan trips, asses risks, and prioritize survival needs. The program also covers safe techniques for using tools including a bush knife, axe, and saw, as well as strategies for shelter construction and navigation basics. Additionally, youth will receive guidance on building their own Wilderness Survival Kit. Throughout the program, participants will gain a deeper connection with nature by applying their skills in a hands-on, low-impact way, using natural materials to minimize their environmental footprint.
The Spring Break Bushcraft Camp is located at Camp Gilwell
(5200 Duncan Bay Main Line Rd, Courtenay, BC) on Vancouver Island.
